DistributionThis is the most widely distributed of the 2 varieties in NC, found in the Sandhills and eastern Piedmont, the central Coastal Plain, and disjunct to the Outer Banks of northern Dare County. Curiously, the Macon County specimen belongs to this variety.
AbundanceRare in Mountains and eastern Piedmont; rare to uncommon in Coastal Plain.
