Distribution | Weakley (2022) maps this alien species in the Mountains of NC, but there are no specimens to confirm this at SERNEC. All "triandra" in NC Mountains are actually americana and known only from Jackson County. FNA maps E. triandra from NC, but without specimen documentation the records cannot be taken at face value. In early August of 2022 Eric Ungberg discovered a population of bona-fide E. triandra in fresh-tidal water of Black River in Pender County. Specimens will be deposited at NCU.

Habitat | "Drawdown zone of swamp forest in tidal portion of Black River"
Phenology | Fruiting July-Aug.
Identification | Fruits like a curved corn cob. Leaves narrowly elliptical (vs. obovate in americana).
