DistributionRAB (1968) state that this plant has been attributed to NC, but no specimens had been seen. There is a collection from Haywood County at herbarium WCUH, but without data or image. This specimen needs to be vetted. A second specimen was a Hyams collection from "Iredell County", but cannot be attributed to NC with confidence since Hyams gathered plants widely for a pharmaceutical company.

Variety laevigatus is native to Alb. and B.C. south to CO and CA. Planted and escaped east of the Mississippi River.
AbundanceVery rare.
HabitatNo NC data.
PhenologyFlowering in June, fruiting September.
IdentificationCommon Snowberry is a shrub to 3 feet tall, with broadly ovate to nearly elliptical, blunt leaves about an inch long.
