DistributionMountains only, so far as is known. Collected from Buncombe (2008) and Macon (1999-present) counties, where established very locally.

Native of Eurasia.
AbundanceRare, escaped locally near original plantings. Populations were described as small to moderate in number of seedlings/saplings.
HabitatOpen woodlands, edge of woods.
Phenology
IdentificationWeakley's key (2020) uses cone size to distinguish native from alien species. FNA does not treat A. alba nor A. firma in its key. Weakley's key states that leaves of juvenile plants of A. alba have blunt-rounded or retuse apex (vs. spinose-bifid in A. firma).
