Distribution | Specimens have been seen from Buncombe, Durham, and Orange counties, but only in Durham (Duke Univ. campus) has it become established. First collected there in 1978, still extant in 2011.

Identification | Leaves have only 2-4 pinnae (vs. 4-12+ in A. julibrissin). Mature bark is rough, not smoothish as in julibrissin. | |
Taxonomic Comments | Apparently there is some hybridization with julibrissin at the Duke campus.
