DistributionSpecimens have been seen from Buncombe, Durham, and Orange counties, but only in Durham (Duke Univ. campus) has it become established. First collected there in 1978, still extant in 2011.

Native of eastern Asia.
AbundanceVery rare, but locally numerous.
HabitatRoadsides, edge of disturbed forest, abandoned nursery.
Phenology
IdentificationLeaves have only 2-4 pinnae (vs. 4-12+ in A. julibrissin). Mature bark is rough, not smoothish as in julibrissin.
Taxonomic CommentsApparently there is some hybridization with julibrissin at the Duke campus.
