DistributionFound as an escape only in Orange County on the campus of UNC Chapel Hill and at Wilkerson Nature Preserve in Wake County. Specimens from Harnett, Lenoir, and New Hanover counties are from cultivated plants.

Native of China, Taiwan, and the Philippines.
AbundanceVery rare.
HabitatDisturbed patch of woods.
Phenology
IdentificationA small tree with a broad crown and opposite or alternate branching. Leaves are divided into 6-8 pairs of opposite, lanceolate leaflets which are taper-pointed and which lack teeth. Small whitish flowers are produced in large panicles; fruits are bright red.
