DistributionEstablished populations have been found in Chatham (2001) and Columbus (1995) counties. Collections from Alleghany and Orange counties are from cultivated material.

Native of Europe.
AbundanceVery rare. Planted in water gardens and lily ponds; rarely escaped.
HabitatArtificial pond (Chatham), "creeks draining into Lake Waccamaw" (Columbus).
PhenologyFlowering May-July, perhaps also to September.
IdentificationThe yellow corollas immediately identify it vs. our 2 native species which have white corollas. The floating stems have at least 2 leaves at the flower cluster vs. one in the other 2 species.
