DistributionThis is a hybrid between L. uniflorus and L. virginicus. There are a few scattered collections from the mountains and Piedmont. However, hybrids or suspected hybrids tend to be poorly collected, and thus the range is not well known, though presumed absent in the eastern half of the state.

"Scattered in the eastern US where the ranges of the two parents overlap, apparently resulting in large hybrid swarms (see Henderson 1962)" (Weakley 2022).
AbundanceProbably very rare to rare in the mountains, and certainly very rare in the Piedmont, as L. uniflorus is rare there.
HabitatWetlands such as swamps and bottomlands.
PhenologyBlooms from July into the fall, and fruits to November.
IdentificationNot described in Weakley (2022) -- should show intermediate characters between L. uniflorus and L. virginicus.
