DistributionWeakley (2022) splits out the full species into two full species -- R. fulgida and R. spathulata. The website editors question the validity of making full species out of former entities withing the overall R. fulgida, as hardly any other references and authors go this far. Because some references do recognize var. fulgida and var. spathulata as varieties, the website editors will go that far. However, only NCU seems to have re-annotated specimens, and any map below would be highly incomplete now. Weakley's map show it as occurring in all three provinces.

Presumed to range from NY and IL south to FL and AL (Weakley 2022).

AbundanceWeakley's map shows it as "rare" in all three provinces, whereas var. spathulata is "uncommon" in all.
