Habitat Overview Species associated with bottomland hardwoods that are restricted to the Coastal Plain. Includes woody species associated with blackwater rivers, which are confined to this region but also a few species that occur in both blackwater and brownwater systems, e.g., Crataegus aestivalis. Includes herbivores that are either known to be specialized on the woody plants in this habitat or that are otherwise only known from these habitats in North Carolina.
