Comments: This lichen is considered a cyanomorph of Ricasolia quercizans (Parker & Goffinet 2017). Because eastern North American specimens of R. amplissima represent R. quercizans, its cyanomorph, Dendriscocaulon umhausense, is here considered a synonym for North Carolina records.
