status_comments Presence of species is based on a single collection cited in Gowan's Porpidia monograph (Gowan 1989), as in DUKE. Specimen could not be located, so presence is questionable. The species was recently recorded from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in eastern Tennessee, so it is conceivable that P. tuberculosa occurs in the North Carolina mountians, and needs to be confirmed via field searches.
