Lontra canadensis | North American River Otter | 2020-02-17 | Paul Sexton | 1 | The otter climbed out of the canal behind our house onto our neighbors jet ski. It was using its front legs to scoot up onto the seat and sun itself briefly. It then took a few turns back and forth and then dove into the water. It had a pointy nose, did not have a beaver tail and had short small legs. No fur. 18 to 24 inches long and narrow body. About 2 weeks ago, I sighted a deceased otter on the beach no where close to the high tide line but on the ocean side of the dune. It was just like an otter. - Canal off Boryk Ave, Topsail Beach | | 05_Sight |
