Mustela frenataLong-tailed Weasel2015-07-11Chris Kelly1Long-tailed Weasel ran across Mountains To Sea Trail near Buckeye Gap at 5:30pm. Habitat: red spruce, Fraser fir, yellow birch, rhododendron, coarse woody debris, moss, leaf litter. Weasel worked its way unhurriedly across trail and forest floor upslope of trail. There is a stream below the trail. I was ~15 feet from weasel. Black-tail tip and tan underside easy to see but I did not try to get my camera out for a photo. - GPS: 35.305029, -82.94196 Mountains to Sea Trail around Buckeye Gap, approximately 100-200 yards from trailhead and Blue Ridge Parkway.05_Sight
