Mustela nivalisLeast Weasel2015-07-25Chris Kelly1I picked up a roadkill least weasel on the Parkway in the Craggies on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at ~11:30AM. It was in the south bound lane near milepost 363. It was a relatively fresh kill. It appears to be an adult female, but there is no evidence of lactation. Surrounding habitat is predominantly northern hardwood forest (yellow birch, mountain ash, sugar and striped maple, some beech, scattered spruce, rhododendron). There is some younger vegetation in the nearby overlooks and of course the grassy road shoulder. Additional photos on file. - 35.718275, -82.359555photo02_Photo
