Comments: The sole member of its genus in North America. Neoplynes had been included in the Lichen Moths in the MONA Checklist but was moved to the Arctiini by Ferguson and Opler (2006).

Adult Markings: Similar in size and shape to Pagara simplex but has translucent white wings instead of grayish-brown and a white abdomen instead of yellow with gray spots (Dyar, 1894). Smaller than Cycnia species and more translucent; also lacks the yellow costal edge found in C. tenera.
Adult ID Requirements: Identifiable from good quality photos of unworn specimens.
Immatures and Development: Larval descriptions appear to be unavailable.
Distribution in North Carolina
Distribution: Found only along the immediate coast, from Carteret County southward

Habitats and Life History
Habitats: All of our records come from the borders of salt marshes or from adjoining dune habitats.

Observation Methods: Comes at least moderately well to blacklights and building lights; no efforts have been made to sample it using bait

Natural Heritage Program Status: W3
Natural Heritage Program Ranks: G5 S2S3
State Protection: Has no legal protection, although permits are required to collect it on state parks and other public lands. Currently placed on the NHP Watchlist.
Comments: Appears to be restricted to marsh edges along barrier islands where it is likely to be vulnerable to coastal development. Sea-level rise is also likely to cause loss of habitat, although may create new habitat in other areas.
