Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Found in North Carolina primarily in open habitats, from maritime dunes, inland sand ridges, old fields, and residential areas. A few also come from forested habitats.
Larval Host Plants: Forbes (1948) lists Pisonia (Devil's Claw) as a host plant, but that species is not found north of Florida. Covell (1984) adds Amaranths, one species of which -- Amaranthus hybridus -- is found throughout North Carolina.
