Dasypus novemcinctusNine-banded Armadillo2016-10-01Steven Wilson, Katrina WilsonFound dead on road below Gorges State Park visitor's center - where trail crosses road at crosswalk. Surrounding habitat was generally deciduous woods with scattered conifers. Openings such as power lines also in the area. Not sure how long the specimen had been dead. Specimen was stiff with ants feeding in open wound when we found it. - Gorges State Park, Sapphire, NC, Transylvania County Coordinates: 35 05' 49.59" N, 82 57' 00.52" W photo02_Photo
