Comments:
Cryptothelea gloverii
and
C. nigrita
are two closely related forms that can be separated by the antennal pectinations and associated sensory hairs. These require close examination, and it is difficult to identify specimens from photographs.
Cryptothelea nigrita
is a more southern form that has yet to be discovered in North Carolina, so the unidentified species shown here are most likely
C. gloverii
.
