Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Wagner et al. (2011) list thickets, scrublands, and coastal strand communities as habitats used by this species. Several of our records come from barrier islands but where our native species of Buckthorn do not occur. We also have a number of records from the Mountains, again where native Buckthorns are rare to absent. Most of our records for this species probably represent migrants rather than resident populations. but we have as many or more records from inland areas.
Larval Host Plants: Larvae feed on Buckthorn (Wagner et al., 2011). In North Carolina, Carolina Buckthorn or introduced species could serve as host plants. - View
