Taxonomic Comments: Probable new species from GSMNP.
Species Notes: Freshwater. Found widely in streams in GSMNP.

Body Length: Unknown.

Key Characters: Smooth cuticle, two macroplacoids and 1 microplacoid (or septulum). Smaller claws than Hypsibius n. species (aff. dujardini).

ID Requirements: Identifiable only by close inspection of key characters or by DNA analysis.

Habitats and Life History

Habitats: Stream periphyton and sediments.

Abundance: Abundant. Making up about 5% of all aquatic specimens in the GSMNP in Bartels' inventory.

Diet: Probably herbivorous.

Reproduction: Smooth eggs deposited in exuvium.

Observation Methods: DIC and PC.
