Family: LAMPYRIDAE Subfamily: Lampyrinae                                                             
Species Status: Photinus consanguineus is a member of the Consanguineus Species Group, the members of which are very similar externally and must be dissected in order to identify them to species. In addition to consanguineus, other members of this group that occur in North Carolina include ignitus and macdermotti.
