Description: A somewhat bicolored species, with two dark brown lateral longitudinal bands extending across the pronotum, wings, and abdomen [in brachypters] on either side of a median longitudinal pale stripe. In males, there is a bulbous yellow-orange outer genital lobe on the ninth abdominal segment, almost as long as the genital capsule; inner lobes are smaller and darker (Beamer, 1955). Females resemble the males but are duller and more brown overall.

Macropterous individuals have long, mostly clear wings with a dark mark midway along the commissure: female, male.
