Description: Coloration [usually] typical for most members of this genus. Yellowish-white with a reddish-orange color pattern on the wings. The reddish-orange marks can also have some yellow coloration, as can the Y, V, or M-shaped mark on the pronotum. The scutellum has yellowish-orange lateral triangles, and the base is orange. Adults are 2.5-2.9 mm long (Dietrich & Dmitriev, 2006).

E. arneri is a color variant with a reddish crossband on the forewing.

Habitats:
Plant Associates: Quercus falcata, Q. pagoda, Q. stellata, Q. nigra, and other species of Quercus (Dietrich & Dmitriev, 2006)
Behavior:
Comment: Most Eratoneura species have very similar colorations, consisting of orange to red wing and body markings that contrasts with a yellowish-white base color. Patterns can vary within species, and therefore assigning an ID based off of visual characteristics alone for many species is essentially a guessing game. Dissection of specimens, with examination of male genitalia, is the only way to identify a majority of Eratoneura species.
