description A sexually dimorphic species, with the males reddish in color and the females, slightly larger, a tan to light brown color. The very short, flat head is very distinctive; the front of the head is circular in shape. (UDEL)
distribution Across the United States, as far west as the Rocky Mountains; also Canada (UDEL)
abundance This species can be locally abundant; it is primarily coastal in the state, having been recorded from several counties in the Coastal Plain.
