description |
A small and typically dark colored species, with the cinereous basal half of the elytra contrasting; the apical border of the wing is light. The frons is dark, typically with pale spots. This species is usually brachypterous, but adults can be macropterous. In macropters, there is a narrow zigzag black band on the basal third of the costa, paralleling the base of the wing and covering the apex of the clavus; it also covers two-thirds of the crossveins from the costal margin and ends near the middle of the apex, with these two stripes forming a U-shaped mark. Adult males are 2.0-2.2 mm long; females are 2.5-2.8 mm. (Beamer, 1946) |
