description A dark brown species, sometimes orange in color, that typically has brown wings and dark venation. The thorax, abdomen, head, and legs are a dark brown color, if the specimen is dark. distribution Widespread throughout parts of the United States; also found in Mexico, Cuba, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico (UDEL)
abundance Uncommon, recorded across the Piedmont and Coastal Plain; probably more abundant throughout this area. Of the species in this genus most likely to be encountered in North Carolina, this is certainly the most common.
