description This species is dark brown overall, with light brown legs and head. There is a dense meshwork of veins on the wings with white speckling, characteristic of this species. Adults are 5 to 7 mm long. The head process/projection extends well away from the rest of the body, giving the impression of a long 'nose' on this species. Nymphs are green with a long, slender 'nose', characteristic of the genus.

distribution Transcontinental, found across the United States and Canada (UDEL)
abundance Scattered records across the state, primarily in the western Piedmont; possibly more abundant in the right habitat.
