description A yellowish-orange color overall. The crown is white to cream colored, with a thin brown marginal line; there is a thin yellowish-orange transverse band in front of the eyes. The face is yellow, and the pronotum is is yellowish/ light orange with a thin, pale gary cruciate mark in the center; there are also two white spots on the anterior margin. The scutellum is yellowish-orange, and the legs are yellow. The wings are yellowish-orange with some dark brown to black and white patches; the wing venation is dark brown. The underside of the male is yellowish-white, with a aple/white valve and genital plates. The underside of the females is also very pale, almost white (especially on the abdominal segemnts); the pregenital sternite is white with a dark brown posterior medial patch, though lacks a notch in the posterior margin. Adult males are 5.8-6.3 mm long, while females are 6.3-6.9 mm. (Barnett 1976) Nymphs are mostly orange, with some white along the medial section of the head, thorax, and abdomen; the underside of the nymph is white. For more images of this species, see: BG.
distribution Eastern United States and Canada (Barnett 1976)
abundance Recorded from several counties in the mountains and one in the Piedmont, likely more abundant in at least the mountains; probably under collected.
