synonym
description A greenish member of the genus, this species has somewhat densely reticulate (meshlike) wing venation and noticeable longitudinal veins; the clavus (inner region of the wing) is also reticulated. Individuals can display quite distinctive, bold longitudinal pronotal bands while others have fainter pronotal markings, resulting in a more uniformly colored pronotum. The size range for males is 8.5-9.5 mm in length; females are typically 9.5-10.5 mm, sometimes a little longer (female Gyponanas tend to be 1.0 mm longer than males, though some are even longer). Females, because of their size, can appear slender. (Hamilton 1982)
distribution Eastern and central United States (3I)
abundance Recorded from a single county in the Piedmont, likely under collected and more abundant in the right habitat.

comments This species is similar to G. vasta (densely reticulated individuals) and G. praelonga, but is smaller and has different male genitalia (Hamilton 1982). It also seemingly is very similar to offula, falling within the same size range and showing a similar wing venation pattern. As is the case with most species of Gyponana, a male specimen is probably needed to confirm a species' identity.
