synonym
description A dark brownish species, the only Alebra in North America with dusky wings. Males are evenly brown on the vertex, pronotum and wings, with some individuals being blackish-brown. The underside of the thorax is yellowish. Females are tawny, the wings fumose usually with the tips and clavus brown, or the entire dorsum brown as in the male. Structural characters are as in Alebra aurea. Adult males are listed at being 2.9-3.3 mm long, and this small size has been noted as differentiating this species from other Alebra, but males have also been collected by K. Kittelberger that are 3.8 and 4.1 mm so this species can range larger; females are 3.2 to 3.7 mm. (Hamilton, 1995)
distribution Eastern and central United States, as far west as Colorado; previously only known from the south from Tennessee. Also found in Ontario. (Hamilton, 1995)
abundance A couple recent records from the mountains; likely more abundant in this region.
