comments |
Copicerus is the only New World genus in the family with long, flattened antennae and a spine-like calcar (UDEL).
This species "has been historically called Copicerus irroratus Swartz, 1802, but the holotype of that species is from Cuba and is not the same entity as the species present in the eastern U.S." A future publication will likely resolve the taxonomic issue here and lead to a new species and name change for the taxon that is in the eastern U.S. (BG) |
