Native of Eurasia; in N.A. -- N.S. to B.C. south to NC, TN, and AZ.

HabitatEdge of stream, roadside, meadow, garden weed in seepage area.
PhenologyFlowering and fruiting April-July.
IdentificationHorseradish has 2 types of leaves: basal ones from very long stalks, with large blades broadly elliptical or obovate; and stem leaves that are smaller, lance-shaped, and varying from pinnately cut to merely toothed. The plants grow 1.5-3 feet tall, with a terminal cluster of numerous medium-sized white flowers, typical of those of mustards.
