| Identification | This is a very robust plant, with the stems growing 6-9 feet tall. The lower and basal leaves are broadly kidney-shaped, the upper leaves being narrower and smaller; the larger leaves can be as much as 1-foot wide or more. The leaves are green or somewhat glaucescent beneath, not strongly glaucous as in A. atriplicifolia. The inflorescence is broad and branched, with white heads, each with 5 florets. The stem is green and conspicuously grooved lengthwise (vs. glaucous and somewhat round in cross-section in A. atriplicifolia). | |
