DistributionMostly Mountains and Piedmont; a few Coastal Plain records, including Fort Bragg in the Sandhills.

Native of Europe; in N.A. in Southern Canada and nearly throughout the U.S., most numerous in the West.
AbundanceUncommon, except rare in the Coastal Plain.
HabitatDry to xeric soils of fields, pastures, roadsides, vacant lots, lawn weed, garden weed.
PhenologyFlowering and fruiting March-July.
IdentificationStork's-bill flowers are pink and look like little geraniums; they also have long, gradually tapered beaks on the fruits, but these are even longer than in geraniums. Leaves are not palmately divided but are pinnately divided, so as to resemble leaves of a milfoil (genus Achillea).
