Phenology | Flowering and fruiting June-September. | |
Identification | Plants potentially can grow to 5 feet, but the NC specimen is less than 2 feet. Leaves occur throughout the stem height, lance-shaped to narrowly elliptic, blunt, margins not toothed. Heads occur terminally, singly or in a tight cluster, heads circular in cross-section and with bristly loooking bracts. Rays and discs are yellow. Leaves, stem, and usually the bracts are sticky or resinous. | |
