DistributionDiscovered in NC in 2019 in a backyard in Wake County. A second record comes from the Wakefield subdivision in North Raleigh, by Herb Amyx in Oct 2024. Taxon editors have prepared this skeletal species account to alert botanists that this alien may be making inroads into our state. We suggest that all populations found be destroyed, even though this species may not be classified as invasive or noxious.

Native to Africa and Asia. In N.A. ranges north mainly to SC and TX, and now to NC.
AbundanceVery rare; two records from one county.
HabitatDisturbed backyard of urban area; disturbed soil beside sidewalk.
PhenologyFlowers and fruits in mid to late October, and probably into November.
