DistributionCollected only once, in 1930 from Durham County, where "escaped from gardens and fields."

Native of eastern Asia; in N.A. MA to WI south to FL; also CA, OR.
AbundanceVery rare. Perhaps only a one-time waif.
HabitatYard weed.
PhenologyFlowering and fruiting July-November.
IdentificationThe stems are essentially prostrate and often mat-forming. The leaves are alternate, stalked, with ovate, succulent blades that lack teeth. The flowers are axillary and inconspicuous, the 4 sepals fairly bright yellowish appearing as "petals", but petals are absent.
Taxonomic CommentsSometimes spelled T. tetragonioides.
