DistributionAs of December of 2020 there were specimens from Buncombe, Cherokee, Swain, and Randolph counties. Randolph specimens are correctly identified, but were planted at the NC Zoological Park. Buncombe specimens are misidentified and were taken from the Biltmore Estate, where likely planted. Cherokee and Swain specimens actually are V. cassinoides, due to distinct pedicels (vs. sessile in lentago). Therefore the status in NC is "State Reported False."
