DistributionSERNEC has no NC specimens, but BONAP shows a record for Cumberland County; Weakley (2018) includes it for NC, as did RAB (1968).

Native of Africa; In N.A. from NC to FL and LA.
AbundanceVery rare.
Habitat"Roadsides and sandy fields" (Weakley 2018).
PhenologyFlowering July-August.
IdentificationSlenderleaf Rattlebox is erect, with 3 leaflets per leaf and which are widest basally. It is told from the similar B. lanceolata by its larger flowers (18-20 mm long vs. 8-10 mm long).
Taxonomic CommentsOften named as C. intermedia.
