Native of Europe and north Africa; in N.A. southern Canada and scattered across the U.S.

Habitat"Field near Deep River" (Lee Co.), "University Lake off Jones Ferry Road" (Orange Co.), "Piedmont Research Station" (Rowan Co.).
PhenologyFlowering and fruiting April-May.
IdentificationThis species is widely and many branched, and the leaves are very small. The flowers are small, pinkish with deep purple or violet lobes.
