Native of the Neotropics; in N.A. MD and MO south to FL and TX; AZ.
AbundanceVery rare.
HabitatRailroad margins and railroad yards.
PhenologyFlowering and fruiting May-October.
IdentificationUnlike our other 2 species, this one has glabrous fruits (vs. glandular-pubescent). This species has small clusters of white (usually) flowers; the others in the genus have flowers red to purple.
