DistributionCollected from 3 counties in the Piedmont and one in the Coastal Plain.

Native of the southwestern U.S. south to S.A.; adventive east of the Mississippi River in NC, KY, SC, GA, FL.
AbundanceVery rare.
HabitatSidewalk crack in town park, weed in cactus garden, disturbed soil, weed in flower bed.
PhenologyFlowering and fruiting June-October.
IdentificationPanicled Fameflower is very distinctive in its ovate leaves (reduced upward) and open-branched, cylindrical inflorescence of small, red-purple (or pink), 5-petaled flowers.
Taxonomic CommentsThe two native species of NC Phemeranthus species were formerly included within Talinum.
