Native of the southwestern US south to S.A.; adventive east of the Mississippi River in NC, KY, SC, GA, FL.
AbundanceVery rare.
HabitatSidewalk crack in town park, weed in cactus garden, disturbed soil.
PhenologyFlowering and fruiting June-October.
IdentificationPanicled Fameflower is very distinctive in its ovate leaves (reduced upward) and open-branched, cylindrical inflorescence of small, red-purple (or pink), 5-petaled flowers.
Taxonomic CommentsThe two native species of NC Phemeranthus species were formerly included within Talinum.
