DistributionKnown from a single place: Mason Farm Biological Preserve in Orange County. Documented there from the floodplain of Morgan Creek by Julia Larke in 1991 and by Alan Weakley in 2003; also from a drainage ditch by the loop road by Carol Ann McCormick et al. in 2006.

Native of northeastern Asia; in N.A. RI to MI and ND, south to NC, TN, and NE.
AbundanceVery rare.
HabitatBrownwater creek floodplain (disturbed), drainage ditch.
PhenologyFlowering and fruiting April-June.
IdentificationIt is similar to R. cathartica, but the leaves are longer and have 4-6 side veins on either side of the midvein (vs. 3 in that species), and all are opposite.
