DistributionThe sole specimen at SERNEC that is labeled R. idaeus var. idaeus is from the edge of the golf course at Balsam Mountain Preserve, Jackson County. It clearly states "cultivated." Thus it appears that var. idaeus should be deleted from the NC flora. Other specimens of this "species" from NC are of the native taxon, which is now R. strigosus (which see).
