DistributionRestricted to the northern Mountains plus Forsyth County.

Native of Europe; in N.A. Newf. to Ont. and MN, south to GA, MS, and IA. Also B.C. to WY, UT, and CA.
AbundanceUncommon to infrequent in the northern Mountains. Very rare eastward.
HabitatFields, hayfields, roadbanks, disturbed areas.
PhenologyFlowering and fruiting May-June.
IdentificationHedge Bedstraw is usually tall and lanky, exceeding 2 feet high, the stems glabrous or finely pubescent. Usually there are 6-8 (or more) linear leaves per whorl, each scabrous on the margins. The showy inflorescences grow from upper axils, being branched panicles with bright white flowers.
