DistributionOnly a single collection at SERNEC has been annotated as T. gallica by Baum or Crins: New Hanover County, along freshwater stream, 1963, Santhau s.n. (NCSC). Other specimens of T. gallica are from cultivated plants. Specimens of "gallica" from 23 herbaria are duplicates of Bradley and Stevenson 3359; all of them should be annotated to T. canariensis.

Native of the western Mediterranean region of Europe; in N.A. scattered coastally in the southeastern states.

HabitatSandy soil along freshwater stream.

IdentificationThis species keys closest to T. ramosissima, differing in its petals that soon drop (vs. persistent).
