DistributionVariety angustifolia occurs primarily in the Coastal Plain, with several records from the lower Piedmont and disjunct to Polk County.

Southeastern VA (?) and NC south to FL and west TX.
AbundanceCommon in the southern half of the Coastal Plain and throughout the Sandhills. Uncommon northward and rare in the lower Piedmont.
HabitatGenerally in dry sandy soils, including maritime interdunes, Longleaf Pine communities, sandhills, etc.

IdentificationStems are ascending to trailing, vs. erect in var. erecta. See Weakley for other ID characters.
