Native of China and Japan; in N.A. widespread in the U.S. and southern Canada.
AbundanceFrequent to locally common. Commonly planted, frequently escaped.
HabitatRoadsides, yard weed, old homesites, suburban woodlands, disturbed streambanks.
PhenologyMay-July.
IdentificationOrange Day-lily is familiar to practically everyone, as it is so commonly planted. While many color variants are grown, only the orange one seems to escape.
