Native to Eurasia; in eastern N.A. from Que. to Man., south to FL and TX.

HabitatDisturbed ground, gardens, cropfields, sidewalks, lawns, waste ground, etc.
PhenologyFlowering and fruiting July-November.
IdentificationSmooth Crabgrass is very much like Hairy Crabgrass (D. sanguinalis) and the native Southern Crabgrass (D. ciliaris), but differs mainly in its glabrous or glabrate lower leaf sheaths (vs. pilose).
